Support model for volunteers
Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS) provides civil legal aid across 33 counties in southern Minnesota, including outstate veterans benefits, Social Security disability appeals, and consumer protection.
- Training: CLE briefings tailored to each engagement type (90 min for SSA cases, 1 hour for veterans clinics)
- Mentor: Practice-area lead attorney available for each case, plus weekly office hours
- Malpractice: Covered under SMRLS’s policy throughout the engagement
- Geography: Serves 33 southern Minnesota counties; volunteers can work remotely or in-person
